IIE is a one-stop shop for the Community, 学生, faculty/staff and alumni seeking resources and services for innovation, 创业, and new enterprises and programs. We help build lasting relationships between the Community, 行业, and academia to improve society and the economy.

IIE serves two important roles:

1. Act as the liaison between the University, Community, 和行业, to advance entrepreneurial endeavors, 和;
2. Assist in strengthening the innovation ecosystem at ODU, in Hampton Roads and the Commonwealth.

The Institute contains 节奏, 退伍军人 业务 Outreach Center (VBOC) 女性's 业务 Center (WBC) 业务 Development Center (BDC)和 Open Seas 技术 Innovation Hub.

Affiliated centers are funded through a mix of federal grant programs, below-market-rate fees, and private philanthropy to keep nearly all the programming affordable and, 在很多情况下, free of charge for participants.
